Summary

PWN is looking for new volunteer nature guides to make people enthusiastic about nature in the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park.

Detailed description

Vacancy volunteer nature guide in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park

Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is looking for new volunteers who want to work as nature guides. Do you like to make people enthusiastic about nature? As a nature guide you share your experiences and knowledge about nature with other nature lovers.

About the excursions

There are plenty of excursion options in the national park throughout the year. These excursions are led by volunteer excursion leaders from Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, by nature guides from IVN Zuid-Kennemerland, KNNV, Vogelwerkgroep and by forest rangers. Consider, for example, an excursion to the Elswout Estate or a themed walk in the dunes such as bat spotting. In addition to the excursions in the activities calendar, tailor-made excursions are offered.

Your role as a volunteer

As a volunteer you share your experiences and knowledge about nature with other nature lovers, for example during excursions for groups of adults and/or children. You organize the program from the De Kennemerduinen visitor center. This can be a walk-in excursion, where the composition and number of participants are unknown in advance, or a requested excursion. An excursion takes approximately 1.5 hours each time.

What do we ask:

  • Available at least 8 times a year throughout the year, preferably also during weekends and holiday periods. And the willingness to make themselves available for a longer period (number of years).
  • Nature guide training at IVN (completed or in training) or extensive experience in giving excursions as a nature guide.
  • Interested in nature and drinking water, preferably knowledge of dune nature with their own specialism.
  • Familiarity with the area is a plus.
  • Affinity with the target group; both groups of adults and children.
  • Customer oriented.
  • Good communicative skills.
  • Being able to work independently and daring to take responsibility.
  • Stress-resistant.
  • Living in the area.
  • Willingness to issue a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).
  • Good command of the Dutch language, English is also an advantage.

What do we offer:

  • Volunteer work in the middle of the nature of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park.
  • A friendly team of fellow volunteer guides with whom you can discuss the excursions.
  • The possibility, in consultation, to give excursions in your own specialty.
  • Insurance during the work.
  • Expenses reimbursement for the costs incurred to participate in volunteer work, such as travel expenses.
  • Free annual dune card for the North Holland Dune Reserve.
  • Celebrations and gifts, including an annual volunteer outing and various volunteer evenings and information meetings.
  • A digital volunteer newsletter four times a year.
  • The opportunity to further train by participating in relevant training and courses, for example from the range of the ''Green Academy''.

South Kennemerland National Park

Between the North Sea coast and Haarlem, from Zandvoort to IJmuiden, the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park extends over approximately 3,800 hectares. An oasis of peace between the bustling Randstad and the wide North Sea beach.

Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is one of the twenty-one National Parks in the Netherlands. It was created in 1995 from a partnership between the site managers Natuurmonumenten, Staatsbosbeheer, PWN, private owners, IVN, the surrounding municipalities of Zandvoort, Haarlem, Bloemendaal and Velsen and the province of North Holland. This partnership focuses on the protection and nature development of this special dune area. In addition, the partners want local residents and visitors to enjoy and learn about nature.
