Chairman of the food bank Velsen

The independent Food Bank Velsen Foundation is affiliated with the association of 172 Food Banks in the Netherlands and uses the expertise, experience, mission and goals of this organization. The Association of Food Banks in the Netherlands has a central board.

As an independent Food Bank Velsen, we are committed, with a team of 20 very committed volunteers, to provide direct food aid to people who are temporarily unable to make it financially and also help in this way to prevent wastage of good food. We provide emergency aid so that people can get air to improve their situation in collaboration with the Social Service Provider Socius, among other things with a package with a self-reliance trajectory. The Food Bank Velsen has a location in the Brulkuip in IJmuiden and has two distribution points for about 40 weekly packages.

With this we provide 120 mouths, of which 60 are children. The Food Bank receives no subsidy and is dependent on food and money donations.

We are currently looking for a person who:

· as chairman can lead a “hands on” board and – together with the other board members – lead the cooperation process.

· has a feeling for working with volunteers and regularly shows interest/appreciation.

· if the personality is familiar with the socio-economic developments in the region from a social commitment, has insight into bottlenecks and is willing to make connections and seek coordination with persons and/or organizations that are active at administrative level within the social domain. Food bank Velsen is a member of the poverty coalition.

his/her substantive tasks consist of preparing, leading the 6 weekly meetings and ensuring proactive decision-making and implementation

· she/he monitors the structure of the organisation, including the distribution of portfolios within the board, and monitors their responsibilities and authorities.

· attends 4 national and 4 provincial meetings annually. Half are online

· makes an annual contribution to the Foundation's administrative and financial annual report.

· is willing to request a certificate of good conduct for this purpose.
