Detailed description

In the Netherlands, thousands of refugee children and young people are growing up in asylum seekers' centers and emergency reception locations. They are vulnerable and deserve our attention. The Council for Refugees has developed the Time4You project especially for them.


Time4You offers information sessions and weekly group meetings for children (8 – 12 years old) and young people (13 – 17 years old) in asylum seekers centers and emergency reception locations. During the meetings we discuss themes, provide information, children and young people are given the opportunity to ask questions or tell their story and we organize fun activities. Time4You focuses on the empowerment of children and young people living in asylum seekers' centers and defends their interests.


What are you going to do

  • You prepare the weekly meetings for the children between the ages of 8 and 12 at the emergency shelter
  • You supervise these meetings, together with a team of 3 to 4 volunteers
  • You inform, identify and refer after consultation with your team leader
  • You keep attendance lists


We ask:

  • You are available on Friday afternoon until March 2023, for about 3 to 4 hours a week
  • You have an affinity with refugees and with children aged 8 to 12 in particular
  • You have a relevant education or demonstrable work experience in the field of pedagogy, education or activity supervision
  • You are proactive, an independent worker, but also a team player
  • You are prepared to follow training courses and to adhere to the guidelines and agreements of the Council for Refugees
  • A Certificate of Good Behavior (costs will be reimbursed)
