Summary

We are looking for families who want to open their doors to a child in need of extra care and attention.

Detailed description

In brief

We are looking for families who want to open their doors to a child in need of extra care and attention.

For a child with a disability, or as a child of parents with a disability, a day (part) and/or a night at a trusted second home can make a big difference. A change of scenery can be a good stimulus for a child. At the same time, the parents of the disabled child are also relieved, so that they can continue to care for longer.

What is being asked of you?

Of course it is important that you are open to a great experience in a possibly unknown territory and that you are flexible. It is not necessary that you already have a lot of knowledge and experience, but peace, clarity and being able to separate things well are important.

In addition, if the child is going to be sleeping, it must have its own sleeping place and the environment must be sufficiently safe.

The requested frequency is once every 4 weeks for a day or part. Usually on weekends.

What do you get in return?

• Appreciation, a special experience and a smile

• A careful matching process, in which we pay extensive attention to expectations, wishes, concerns and possibilities.

• Support from STG/SIG through individual contact with a fixed point of contact

• Be able to follow training meetings free of charge

• A network of other enthusiastic host families and volunteers, with whom you can share your experiences

• (Travel) expenses are reimbursed.

Thanks to your efforts, you can make an important contribution to a safe place by letting the child run along in your usual rhythm of the day or the weekend. You will see that looking after each other without too much fuss can yield a lot.

We stick to the measures of the RIVM.

About STG

Everyone prefers to live independently at home. Sometimes that doesn't come naturally. A disability or chronic illness can make a situation untenable. STG wants to prevent that.

That is why we support people with disabilities and their carers at home. With the help of committed volunteers, children and adults can continue to live at home longer and participate in society.

With the efforts of volunteers, parents are relieved of the burden of caring for their child. We do this in several ways:
* by using a volunteer who does activities with the child
* because the child goes to a host family
* by organizing fun activities for brothers and sisters
* by bringing parents together in meetings

We focus on children and adults with a mental or physical disability, chronic illness, ADHD or autism.

STG is an accessible, small volunteer organization in the regions of Central and South Kennemerland.
