Summary

In the event of a disaster or crisis situation, the Red Cross Population Care Team is ready to provide assistance to those affected.

Detailed description

In the event of a disaster or crisis situation, the Red Cross Population Care Team is ready to provide assistance to those affected. Consider the evacuation of a nursing home, a flood or stranded travelers at Schiphol Airport. Where appropriate, the Red Cross supports municipalities in population care tasks. We offer a listening ear and work with all parties to find suitable solutions and refer you to the right authorities.

In addition to the team of trained population care volunteers, the Red Cross is also increasingly deploying civilian aid workers. These are people who have registered with Ready2help. These civilian aid workers have had no specific education or training. In the coming year, Red Cross Kennemerland wants to investigate how this group of civilian aid workers can best be integrated into the aid processes.

About what you're going to do

Together with volunteer location coordinators, you encourage volunteers to become members of the population care team.

In addition, you are responsible for external recruitment and develop a training and exercise plan together with the team leaders and the Emergency Services Coordinator. You provide a trained team of emergency responders within the district and support them in their tasks.

You participate tactically in the preparation, execution and evaluation of exercises.

Together with the population care team, you ensure that the team has the resources and people to be deployed.

If the population care team is deployed, you maintain contact with the Emergency Services Coordinator or the crisis coordinator of the Red Cross.

In addition, you are part of the Red Cross Emergency Response Consultation and, where appropriate, you replace the Head of the Emergency Response Team. You identify bottlenecks and contribute to solutions. During a deployment, if necessary, you work from the Red Cross action center.

About you

• You speak good Dutch, are representative and can represent the organization at a tactical level.

• You can take charge and dare to make decisions.

• You are a connector who knows how to turn a group of people into a team.

• You have good communication skills and are able to enthuse and motivate the team.

• You can assess situations well and improvise, determine priorities and implement them.

• You have a flexible working environment, so that you can be deployed in an emergency, with permission from your employer.

About what this volunteer work brings you

An opportunity to expand your experiences and your network and to use your (professional) qualities. Great satisfaction, because you really contribute to the activities of the Red Cross in your area. Your work is socially important and meaningful.

About us

Helping people in need around the corner – and far away, from our hearts and with our sleeves rolled up. That is what the Red Cross stands for.

We do this by increasing people's resilience, so that they help themselves and others in emergency situations. In the Netherlands, the Red Cross helps with more than fourteen thousand volunteers by providing Emergency Aid, Event Aid, First Aid (education) and Citizen Aid, among other things.

Volunteers are committed to helping people. It gives them satisfaction to be of significance to someone else. And to grow as a person. Collegiality is valuable; the volunteers help each other when necessary and they take each other into account. Together they are ready for everyone.

When choosing the right candidate, the Red Cross is not guided by cultural background, physical limitations, gender identity, religious beliefs, orientation or age.
