Summary
The Belcircle is for (older) citizens living alone with a small network. Daily telephone contact makes people feel safe and less lonely.Detailed description
What does the Belcircle entail; Every morning around 9 a.m. a volunteer calls the first person of the bell circle. He then calls the second, this continues until the last in the circle calls the volunteer back. If someone does not answer, the volunteer will take action.
Who is the Belcircle for; Only residents who like it if there is daily telephone contact. Participants experience this daily contact as indispensable: it increases their sense of security. There are no age criteria or costs involved. The phone call in the morning is short: after all, the next person in the circle has to be called. Participants are free to call back later in the day for fun. To get to know participants and volunteers better, Welzijn Velsen, the initiator of this project, organizes a meeting twice a year.
The work can be done from your own home by telephone. You work in a roster and it is your turn every 4 weeks. Then you start the bell circle seven days in a row.
There is a coordinator and a professional as backup if problems arise. You must be able to take action yourself.
